NEW THIS WEEK: CHARACTER GUEST POST

Gillian Gilchrist is the new formed daughter of the Mab, Queen of Shadows and Ardan Gilchrist, a human survivor of an attack that wiped out his entire village who was taken in by the fae. Queen Mab asked the goddess Danu for a way to save her people that had become stuck in the Americas who she could not reach. Danu answered her prayers and with sacrifices from all three queens of the fae she formed a doll out of moss and clay, which was soaked in the blood offering of Mab and Ardan and brought to life.

After waking up in a mature human-like body Gillian spends a little bit of time adjusting to it, learning how to walk and talk, while trying to keep her balance. Mab leaves her with her human father to be trained in fighting and stays away so her own wild creation magic will not affect Gillian as she tries to figure out who she is. It is a great sacrifice on Mab’s part, but she is successful. Gillian fully understands Mab’s reasoning, as she has all of her parents memories, conveyed to her through the blood ritual. As an Aos Si, Sidhe, Fae Gillian is fully aware of how much damage she could do if she allows the creation magic inside of her to run loose.

Trained in the ways of battle and with a tentative grasp at controlling shadows, Gillian adds to her pool of knowledge by taking the memories from the Troll King, a young human from New York who has also been adopted by the Fae when his parents died while on vacation in Scotland. While Gillian has eons of memories to draw from she is still very young and inexperienced. A memory isn’t as strong as a fresh feeling after all, and she hasn’t sorted through all of the information she has gathered.

And she doesn’t have a lot of time. The night after she finishes her training she embarks for the Americas to search for her lost people with only one companion, a mute kelpie with a penchant for slapstick.

Now all she has to do is scour the entire continent, looking for fae that have become trapped, poisoned, warped, or rogue, and figure out a way to bring them back to the Fae and safety. Even if that means killing them.
